The three distinct chalk stacks that rise out of the sea at the furthest western point of the Isle of Wight are the Solent isle’s most famous landmark. Surrounded by gorgeous coastal habitat and within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the rock formation overlooks a picturesque beach bordered by the grass-topped sand cliffs of Alum Bay. Its famous red and white-striped lighthouse sits at the end of the furthest stack. The fairy-tale turrets on this bridge, that stretches from the Tower of London to Shad Thames on the South Bank have made it one of London’s most recognisable structures. Built in the late 1800s, it’s open to both cars and pedestrians. Within the Victorian engine rooms, there’s a museum exploring the history of the bridge and the glass floor of the high-level walkway at the top offers a spine-tingling bird’s-eye view of the city below.

A good old-fashioned caff. Since 1900 this workers’ café has provided carbs and protein in eggy, meaty and pan-fried form to the good people of east London. Traces of bygone eras, like art deco interior details and Formica tables have earned E Pellicci Grade II-listed status, but what diners love best is that the fry-ups, grills and Italian plates are still all dished up by the same family. As strange as it might sound, you’re going to want to chase down your fry-up with a helping of bread-and-butter pudding – it’s a customer favourite. Venue says We now offer call & collect, delivery and takeaway with Just Eat. Plus, feed the family with our Pellicci Family Favourite Fridge Fillers.

Covering some 900 square miles, Lake District National Park is a must-visit destination for travelers to England. With 12 of the country’s largest lakes and more than 2,000 miles of rights of way waiting to be explored, there’s little wonder the region continues to inspire, with its magnificent views and scenery straight out of a painting. Other things to do include visiting the park’s many fells, including Scafell Pike (3,210 feet), the highest mountain in England. Be sure to also spend time exploring some of the lovely little towns and villages dotted throughout the region, such as Grasmere. There’s also popular Hampstead Heath in the northwest, one of the city’s most-loved green spaces, which boasts great views. There are swimming ponds to cool off during summer and plenty of space to stretch out. It might seem odd to visit London and spend your time in a park, given there are parks and green spaces right across the world. I did not appreciate how valuable proximity to green spaces would be until I had been in London for several months. When it is a nice day, these spaces really come alive, as people from all walks of life enjoy them peacefully together. The novelty of walking barefoot across the grass and grabbing a cheeky nap in the sunshine after a lovely picnic lunch is one of my favorite things to do on a nice day.

OH MY GOD. When you arrive in the South Terminal make a beeline for the bathrooms on the right just before you hit Boots and M&S. They are incredible! Basically each stall has its own sink, hand drier, and little storage area. They are HUGE. I’m 99.9% sure that some of them are bigger than most London apartments. I know it’s a little weird to be so impressed with a bathroom, but I have a tiny bladder so I always pay attention to them. Good job to whoever designed these! I loved the TV, it’s in the wall at the foot of the bed so it makes it super cosy and enclosed. You can book rooms for just 4hrs if you have a transfer, or as long as you need. Standard cabins start from £37 per night.
