We describe clearly on each product page how we’ve sourced the fur and why we trust it. What constitutes a trustworthy source for Lenuageluxe? It should either: Be sourced as a by-product of the food industry, transform a waste product to give it value, such as the reclaiming fur from animals culled for environmental management, Minimise waste by re-manufacturing vintage pieces or using surplus manufacturing material, instead of only using new material.
Societal Sustainability is harder to define. The fur industry employs approximately a million people around the world and with tens of billions of US Dollars annually of economic activity directly related to fur, the industry makes a huge contribution to tax revenues and to the incomes of rural communities. Fur businesses are most often family-owned as the skills are passed form one generation to the next. Fur also allows many indigenous communities to carry out their traditional way of life, (e.g. Inuit seal hunters) while providing for their families in some of the harshest climates on Earth. Another aspect of this kind of sustainability is that societies make decisions about what kinds of activities/organisations are allowed and which are not based on many factors like relative cost to the society, public opinion, etc. The fur industry demonstrates well why it deserves “license to operate” however the opposition fur has faced in the past years is proof that there is still work to be done in this area particularly in public communication.
It feels odd to write about weddings as if they haven’t been drastically affected by the current state of the world. While yes, there are more important things to occupy our minds with than the postponed date of a giant party, try telling that to the brides who have had to put one of their biggest lifelong dreams on hold for the unseeable future. As someone who personally has a handful of friends who have had to adjust almost every aspect of their pending weddings due to COVID-19, I can assure you that this weighs heavy on those couples who are in the thick of it, so in the meantime, let’s break up the gloom and doom with a little trend talk.
